Improve video playback over a wireless connection with VLC

So I just picked up a new laptop, the Dell Studio 15″ which looks and performs great but as I’m in a brick walled apartment I had issues with streaming video over a wireless connection from my Linux file server. The symptoms were stuttering, hitching and skipping but with VLC I was able to fix this issue!

Disable Vista Locking your PC after returning from Sleep Mode

After installing Vista I had some issues with my HTPC (Home Theater PC); whenever the HTPC ‘awoke’ from being ‘asleep’ (sleep mode) it was locked, even when I had supplied no password for my user! So here is a quick tutorial on how you can disable this option in Vista.

Tips for keeping your Access database organized

The other day I was handed an Access database, after waiting a couple of minutes for it to open I was dumbfounded with the monster it had grown into (check out the screen shots below). The funny thing was that this database somehow produced a report which a lot of ‘important’ people used and after the builder departed it was left up to me to get it back up and running.
