Running Sum in an Excel Pivot Table
Excel 2003, Tips May 29th, 2008Here is a quick tip on how to calculate running sums in Excel 2003 Pivot Tables.
After you have created your Pivot Table, double click on the data you would like to create a running sum for.
A PivotTable Field dialog box will appear, make sure you have the following options selected:
- Summarize by : Sum
- Show data as : Running Total in
- Base field : Your row item in the Pivot Table (in my case it is Week Ending)
Once you are done click the OK button and now you have a Pivot Table with a running sum data field!
